Waqrapukara Trek Cusco

Waqrapukara is located in the province of Acomayo south of Cusco. It is located at 4300 meters above sea level on the top of a mountain at the foot of the Apurimac River canyon.

It is believed that this place was used as a religious sanctuary due to the rock formation in the form of horns that it presents. It is also believed that it was a fortress due to the location in which it is located; and in addition to having the appearance of a castle.

The exact use of this place has not yet been determined. The research works do not determine the function of this place and if it was connected with the Inca Empire. Since there are several Inca roads that end in this place.

In addition, on the way you can see other Inca sites such as Tambopukara, Yactapukara and Ayapukara, which would show that this was a religious place of great importance.

In this place you can find enclosures, temples, canals, platforms, stairs and more. We recommend that you spend a few days in Cusco and be in good physical condition to enjoy hiking.
