Q’eswachaka the last Inca bridge, was built along with other suspension bridges by the Inca Empire. These bridges were built in places of rugged geography presented by the Andes mountain range. The function was to connect the different communities that were separated by the river. It is made of vegetable fibers and braided.
It is located in the province of Canas about three and a half hours from the city of Cusco at an altitude of 3,700 meters above the Apurimac River. This bridge is 29 meters long and 1.20 meters wide.
Q’eswachaka is the last Inca bridge preserved to date, and is renewed every year for conservation during the second week of June by the communities of Chaupibanda, Choccayhua, Huinchiri and Ccollana Quehue.
It is a remarkable four-day event that has been recognized by some of the prominent channels like NOVA and BBC. In 2009, the Peruvian government recognized the Q’eswachaka bridge as a cultural heritage.

This cultural adventure starts early in the morning. We will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco in our private transport. We will take you through the southern valley of Cusco. Along the way you will be able to appreciate the beautiful crystalline lagoons of Pomacanchi, Acopia, Ancascocha and Pampamarca.
On the way to the province of Canas we will stop for breakfast in a local restaurant a delicious Andean breakfast typical of the area.
Upon arrival in the province of Canas we will go to the district of Quehue. Here is the Inca Bridge Qeswachaca. Our guide will let you know more about this bridge and how the nearby communities year after year preserve the tradition of rebuilding it and continue to pass on this great tradition to future generations.
After crossing the bridge and observing the beautiful views it offers along the Apurímac River, we will have a delicious typical lunch of the area.
Finally we will return to Cusco and we will drop you off near the Plaza de Armas of Cusco.
