Lares is located in the province of Calca. It houses Andean communities that preserve their culture and traditions. The landscapes are full of crystal clear lakes, waterfalls, and animals such as llamas and alpacas.
Lares Trek to Machu Picchu is ideal for lovers of hiking, unique landscapes, high altitude places, having as the highest point located at 4600 meters above sea level, and remote communities.
For four days you will be able to interact with the communities that will gladly share interesting facts about their culture and daily life. In addition to sharing part of your daily life and make you participate.
The hike will take you through glaciers, lakes, impressive waterfalls and the Inca fortress Machu Picchu. Along the route you will be able to see Andean animals and varied flora.

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your accommodation in our private transport. We will take you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the province of Calca. Here we will stop at a store so you can buy items that you are missing.
We will continue our tour to Quiswarani. This is the starting point of the Lares Trek to Machu Picchu. Here we will meet our muleteers and chefs who will accompany us on this adventure.
After arranging our belongings we will start the tour with a gradual walk. We will walk to the first step located at 4200 meters above sea level. This place offers breathtaking views of the Andean landscapes.
We will continue ascending until we reach the Hualcacassa Pass. Here you can see the seven lagoons and the peaks of the snow-capped Andes. This place offers a breathtaking view.
After lunch we will continue the walk until we reach the second Step in Qolqecasa. Located at 4200 meters above sea level.
Finally we will go down the hill for thirty minutes to our first camp in Yanacocha. It is located a little at 3800 meters above sea level.
We will wake you up with traditional Andean breakfast. We will continue with a downhill hike. On the way you will see traditional Andean houses, Andean farms and farmland that are the livelihood of many of the families.
You will also see animals such as aplacas, llamas and vicuñas. We will continue walking to the highest point of the Trek from Lares to Machu Picchu, the Aururocassa Pass. It is located at 4600 meters.
Here we will enjoy nature and the wonderful views of the Lares Valley. Finally we will descend to Mantanay. This is the place where we will spend the night.
We will wake you up with a delicious breakfast. We will continue the hike with a descent through quinoa fields. We will pass by potato crops until we reach Yanahuara. Here we will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch.
After saying goodbye to the muleteers and chefs who accompanied us we will go to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Here you will board a train that will take you to the town of Aguas Calientes.
The train journey is a unique experience. You will be able to appreciate Andean communities, Andean farms and the entire landscape around them. You will also be traveling next to the Urubamba River.
When you arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes our staff will be waiting for you. After dropping you off at your accommodation you will have free time for you to explore the village. This town is famous for the hot springs it has. Considered thermomedicinal.
Later in the evening our guide will give you the necessary instructions for the next day. The most anticipated day.
Early in the morning the hotel staff will give you a box of snacks. Then we will transfer you to the bus station. Here you will board the bus that will take you to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
When you arrive at the entrance of the citadel you will verify your documents. After passing the control we will start our tour. Together with our guide we will tour the entire citadel. You will know more about this place and the function it fulfilled within the Inca Empire.
After touring the citadel you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. We recommend walking to the Inti Punku which offers a breathtaking view of the entire citadel. If you have booked a hike to Machu Picchu or the Huayna Picchu Mountain, our guide will direct you to the entrance.
After enjoying this wonder we will return to Aguas Calientes. Board the bus back to the village. Upon arrival you will have free time so you can have lunch or learn more about this rustic village.
Later you will board the train that will take you back to Ollantaytambo. Here our private transport will be waiting for you to take you back to Cusco.
