Itinerary

Half DayCathedral Cusco

The Cusco city tour begins with a visit to the Cusco Cathedral. This Cathedral was once a Royal palace of the Inca Civilization. The function that the Incas gave it is unknown. But today it is a beautiful construction that took the Spaniards a period of 50 years to build. It is full of baroque styles and other finishing styles.

Qoricancha

This temple was not one of the main ones for the Inca Civilization, since it was dedicated to the worship of their Supreme God, the sun, which they called Inti. According to historians it is said that this temple was full of gold statues and gold finishes.

When the Spaniards arrived in Cusco, they kidnapped the Inca Emperor, Atahualpa. He offered a reward in exchange for his release. For this purpose all the gold that was in this temple was melted down. However, very much in the Spanish style, he was killed after receiving the ransom.

Sacsayhuaman

Inca archaeological site, presents one of the most incredible constructions in the world. Each carved stone leaves mystery and uncertainty due to the precision of the carving and fit between them.

This fortress is located on a hill overlooking the Plaza de Armas. Here you can appreciate the advanced technology that the Incas used. In addition to the mystery left by the forces of the Incas or the means to transport stones over 2 meters.

Q'enqo

Located a few meters from the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Qenqo was used by the Incas to perform sacrifices in honor of their gods and perform the mummification of corpses.

Puca Pucara

Located a few meters uphill from Q’enqo, this archaeological site stands out for the advanced technology and the underground hydraulic system that the Incas built. Nowadays you can appreciate the water channels and even thermal baths.

Tambomachay

Its name comes from the Quechua meaning “strong red”. It receives this name due to the rocks it presents and they turn reddish when sunset arrives at this place.

It is believed that this site was used by the Inca Empire as a military center to protect its capital city Cusco.
